BRASELTON,
Ga. - Junior Matt Moot fired his second
consecutive sub-par round as he delivered a final round 3-under 69
to lead Campbell to its lowest team round of the tournament and a
fourth place finish at the Atlantic Sun Championship on
Wednesday.
The Camels fired an even-par round of 288 on Wednesday and bettered
their total by six shots from their previous round on Tuesday.
Campbell (295-294-288-877) also finished tied for the second best
team round of the day with ETSU on the Legends Course at Chateau
Elan.
No. 31 ETSU (281-290-288-859) won the event in wire-to-wire fashion
at 5-under par overall. The Bucs did have to fend off a strong
charge from Florida Gulf Coast who entered the final round trailing
by ten shots. The Eagles (292-289-282-863) fired a 6-under par
round as a team on Wednesday to finish in second at 1-under
overall. UNF finished third at 3-over par for the tournament. By
winning the event, the Bucs will receive an automatic bid to one of
the six NCAA Regional sites.
Moot (75-71-69-215), from Johnstown, Pa. finished with eight pars
and a bogey on the front nine before rallying with a bogey free
back nine that included four birdies. Moot was even par on his
round before closing his round with three straight birdies to
finish at 1-under par (75-71-69-215) for the tournament. He was
tied for 23rd after round one and ended up as Campbell's
lowest finisher moving all the way up into a tie for fourth place.
Moot was also named to the Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team, which
is given out to the top five individual finishers.
ETSU's Seamus Power fired a final round 67 to earn individual
medalist honors. Power trailed co-leaders Kevin Phelan of UNF and
teammate Rhys Enoch by two heading into today's round. Brandon
Pena of Florida Gulf Coast finished second at 3-under par overall.
Pena shot the low round of the tournament as he fired a final round
7-under par 65 on Wednesday. The 65 was also the lowest final
round score in Atlantic Sun Championship history.
Sophomore Vaita Guillaume
(76-73-70-219) had perhaps the most exciting round of the day for
the Camels as he aced the 125-yard, par-3 seventh hole. The
hole-in-one was the first of his collegiate career. Guillaume also
recorded three birdies and a bogey in that opening nine holes to
fire a front nine score of 32. He finished up his round with a
2-under 70 and was his lowest round of the event. Guillaume
finished tied for ninth overall.
Zak Drescher (74-79-73-226)
recorded his best round of the tournament on Wednesday as he
completed the final round with a solid 1-over 73. After a
disappointing front nine total of 39, Drescher rallied to record
three birdies on the back nine en route to a 34 on the second
nine. Drescher finished tied for 32nd overall.

the Campbell low finisher through 36-holes completed his final day
with a round of 76 to finish tied for 12th at 4-over for the
tournament. Gray concluded the season with seven straight top-30
finishes.
