BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Head coach Steve Armas has announced the
addition of six players from across the country and world to the
Campbell University men's soccer roster. The recruiting class
includes three players from North Carolina, two from Texas and one
from Finland. Justin Franz (Cedar Park, Texas),
Jared Girard (Morrisville, N.C.), Travis
Golden (Austin, Texas), Ethan Hall (Raleigh,
N.C.), Eduardo "Edu" Rodriguez (Cary,
N.C.) and Aleksi Tossavainen (Tampere,
Finland) will join the Fighting Camel program in
August.
"I am extremely pleased to announce another outstanding recruiting
class and would like to welcome them into the Campbell Soccer
family," said Armas, who took over head coaching duties in
January. "They are not only well-established soccer players, but
also great individuals. Each signee will be a very good compliment
to our team, but more importantly, each one embodies all of the
core values that we look for in our players. They come from great
families, have a passionate love for the game and are great
competitors. We're going to be a young team next year. However, our
success will be dependant upon how quickly these players become
integrated into our program and become leaders themselves."
The six newcomers join a Campbell program that has produced a
32-5-5 won-lost-tied record in Atlantic Sun regular season play
over the last five years. The Camels were unbeaten in 18-straight
league contests (16-0-2), a mark that stood as the longest in the
nation until last October, when CU wrapped up its 3rd A-Sun regular
season title in the last 5 seasons with a 7-1-1 mark. Overall,
Campbell owns a 58-35-7 record since the start of the 2005
season.
