BUIES CREEK, N.C.-Campbell rising sophomore DeLohnni Nicol-Samuel, who earned All-Atlantic Sun and All-Freshman cross country honors as a freshman last season, will compete in multiple international events this summer, including the IAAF World Junior Track & Field Championships.

Nicol-Samuel has already competed in various events around the Caribbean, making stops in Trinidad and the Dominican Republic.

The rising sophomore's next stop will be for the 2010 Central American & Caribbean Games, where nearly 5,000 athletes from over 30 countries will compete. Nicol-Samuel will take part in the 1500 and 5000 meter races.

From there, Nicol-Samuel will come back home to Canada for the IAAF World Junior Track & Field Championships, which run from July 19-25 in Moncton, New Brunswick. The Brandon, Manitoba native will compete in the 5000 meter portion of the event.

Carrying dual citizenship (his mother, Lynn Nicol, is a native of Canada while his father, Dane Samuel is from St. Vincent and the Grenadines), Nicol-Samuel can compete in both countries.

Nicol-Samuel was a Second Team All A-Sun performer last fall during the cross country season, also earning all-freshman accolades. He finished 12^th overall in the conference. Over the course of the season, the freshman took four top-10 finishes, highlighted by fifth place showings in both the Campbell Invitational and Seahawk Invitational.

During the outdoor track & field season, Nicol-Samuel finished third in the Charlotte Invitational 5K, and fourth in the USC Upstate Invitational 1500 meter run. During the indoor season, Nicol-Samuel posted a best finish of seventh in the 5000 meters at the Liberty Open.
