BUIES CREEK, N.C. - After allowing just one goal in two outings,
Jamie Panfil of Campbell University has been named Atlantic Sun
Conference women's soccer defensive player of the week.
The junior goalkeeper from New Lenox, Ill., registered five saves
and a 0.50 goals-against average as the Camels went 1-1 last
week.
She recorded her seventh career shutout in a 1-0 victory at High
Point on Aug. 23, while collecting three saves.
Anytime a player is named as the player of the week in our
conference a coach should be proud and I certainly am pleased for
James and our entire team," said head coach Todd Clark. "We were
not even sure Jamie would play this season due to some injuries, so
for her to lead a group that has experienced the success we have,
it is a great achievement. I think the fact that the High Point
match moved her towards the top of the all-time shut out list is
something in which our entire program can share our excitement with
Jamie as it is not only an ongoing accomplishment, but signifies
the time she has shared with an some fine players over the previous
two seasons as well."
Through three matches, Panfil owns a 1.00 GAA and 10 saves for the
Camels (1-2), who host UMBC Monday at 6:00 p.m. The contest is
Campbell's second in a span of three matches in six days. Campbell
also entertains Coastal Carolina Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
