Volleyball Takes Third in Wake Tourney

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-Campbell rounded out play in the Wake Forest Black & Gold Invitational with 3-0 losses to the Demon Deacons (25-22, 25-16, 25-16) and West Virginia (25-22, 26-24, 25-13) on Saturday inside Reynolds Gym.

Campbell drops to 2-9 on the season while WFU moves to 5-3 and WVU improves to 7-3. Tournament play will conclude tonight with Wake Forest and East Carolina at 7 p.m.

WFU hit .337 as a unit and combined for eight blocks and five aces to defeat the Camels in CU's first match of the day.

Sophomore Andrea Beck and junior Kadija Formah led the Deacons wit a combined 21 kills and 11 blocks. Senior Lauren McIntyre added eight and junior Carlin Salmon recorded five scores in the win. Megan Thornberry collected 17 digs and Kelsey Jones tallied 36 assists.

Senior outside hitter Emily Werner paced Campbell with 10 kills in day's first contest. The Sarasota, Fla. native added five digs and two blocks in the loss. Jordan Reaves followed with six kills, while Allyson Goldbach and Caitlin Bendy posted five each. Heather Wilson tacked on a season-high 28 assists and Kelsey Campbell gathered 14 digs.

Werner added another 12 kills, a team high, against West Virginia in the Camels' Black & Gold Invitational finale. The senior outside hitter added 11 digs for her second double-double of the season. Goldbach and Wilson collected another seven kills each for Campbell with Goldbach adding 16 digs. Wilson, a freshman setter, eclipsed her previous season-high, set earlier today, with 30 assists. Kelsey Campbell also notched 14 digs, while Annie Kobeski chipped in five kills and four blocks.

For the Mountaineers, the trio of Lauren Evans, Michelle Kopecky and Serinna Russo collected 13, 12 and 11 kills, respectively, with Russo adding a team-best 19 digs. Kari Post dished out 43 assists on the night with 11 digs and seven kills. Abby Norman also added eight kills and Bonnie West posted 10 digs.

The Camels will be back in action on Tuesday at High Point. Match time is set for 7 p.m. inside the Millis Center.
