Volleyball Travels to High Point Tuesday

BUIES CREEK, N.C.-Fresh off a third place finish in the Wake Forest Black & Gold Invitational, Campbell volleyball will head to High Point for a midweek nonconference matchup Tuesday at 7 p.m. inside the Panthers' Millis Center.

Over the weekend, the Camels (2-9) posted a 1-2 record in the tournament, highlighting by a 3-2 win over in-state rival East Carolina on Friday night. Senior outside hitter Allyson Goldbach torched the Pirates for 22 kills and 18 digs in that match, both career highs. Goldbach was named to the all-tournament team for her weekend's efforts after averaging 3.20 kills and 3.20 digs per set.

On the year, Goldbach leads a trio of Camels posting over 2.00 kills per set, as the Jupiter, Fla. native averages 2.44 a frame. Senior Emily Werner and sophomore Jordan Reaves are also contributing 2.31 and 2.03 kills a set, respectively.

Goldbach is also posted 2.31 digs per set, while juniors Lauren Garza and Kelsey Campbell combine for 6.41 digs per stanza.

The Panthers (2-8) are currently riding a stretch of eight consecutive losses after winning their first two matches of the season. Last weekend, High Point dropped contests to Arizona State, UC Riverside and Utah Valley State at the ASU Sheraton Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.

Senior outside hitter Megan Smith leads HPU with 3.67 kills and 2.74 digs per frame, while redshirt senior outside Audie Gonzalez is posting 2.36 kills and matching Smith at 2.74 digs per set. Senior libero Julie Hershkowitz leads the team in digs a 4.53 per, while senior middle Anna Lott is the Panthers' leading blocker at 1.15 per frame.

When the two teams met last season in Buies Creek, the Camels' Emily Werner tagged 18 kills to go along with a career-high 19 digs, but Campbell fell 3-2 (25-22, 16-25, 25-22, 23-25, 12-15) to High Point. Smith paced the Panthers with 21 kills and a career mark of 18 digs. The Camels are 9-7 all-time against High Point in a series that dates back to 1997.

Campbell will be back in action this weekend, heading to the Port City for the UNCW Hilton Garden Inn Beach Bash. The Camels will square off against North Carolina State, Elon and the host Seahawks over the two-day tourney.
