BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Coming off an excellent showing at its
season-opening tournament, Campbell is ranked 13th in the country
in the latest Golfstat NCAA men's head-to-head Division I
standings.
The Camels finished sixth in the Golfweek Conference Challenge,
Sept. 19-21 at Burlington, Iowa, shooting 289-283-289-861 as one of
15 representatives from different conferences throughout the
nation.
Representing the Atlantic Sun, the Camels finished ahead of schools
from the West Coast (San Francisco), Southland (Southeastern
Louisiana), Sun Belt (Middle Tennessee), Conference USA (East
Carolina), Big West (Cal-Irvine), Western Athletic (Nevada),
Mid-American (Eastern Michigan), Southern (Furman) and Colonial
(Virginia Commonwealth) leagues.
Junior Vaita Guillaume tied for 17th at the Golfweek Conference
Challenge, shooting a two-under 214 (74-69-71) and is ranked 121st
in the latest Golfstat Cup listing with a 71.3 average. Senior
Matt Moot, who tied for 21st at the Conference Challenge
(74-71-70-215), is tied for 169th in the Golfstat Cup at 71.67.
The Camels continue their fall season next week (Oct. 4-5) at the
Wolfpack Invitational, hosted by North Carolina State University at
Lonnie Poole Golf Course. Earlier this month, the Arnold Palmer
design was named the 22nd best campus course in the nation by
Golfweek.
Host N.C. State is ranked fourth in the latest Golfstat NCAA men
head-to-head ratings. The Wolfpack finished second at the Golfweek
Conference Challenge.
