BUIES CREEK, N.C.-Texas Rangers assistant coach Johnny Narron will
serve as guest speaker for Campbell baseball's 2011 First Pitch
Banquet, set for January 29.
"We are very excited and honored to have such a wonderful speaker
in Johnny Narron coming to Buies Creek," said CU head coach Greg
Goff. "He is a tremendous coach and mentor in the game of
baseball and the folks that come out will be touched forever by his
message and story."
The banquet is slated to kick off at 6 p.m. in Gore Arena inside
the Pope Center in Buies Creek. Tickets for the event are $25.
The evening will include a catered dinner, comments from CU head
coach Greg
Goff and an introduction of the 2011 Camels, in addition to
remarks from Mr. Narron.
Narron completed his third season with the Rangers in the fall,
where Texas claimed the American League Championship and earned a
trip to the 2010 World Series.
An East Carolina graduate, Narron spent 2007 with the Cincinnati
Reds organization as the Reds Major League Video/Administrative
Coach. Narron also spent four seasons as a coach in the farm system
for the Milwaukee Brewers, including stints as hitting coach and
manager at Rookie-level Helena Brewers, in 2003, 2004 and 2006.
Narron was a first baseman in the New York Yankees and Chicago
White Sox systems. He is the brother of former Rangers and Reds
manager Jerry Narron, who is currently the Bench Coach for the
Milwaukee Brewers.
"This will be a great evening for all baseball fans that want to
come out and support Campbell University and our baseball program,"
added Goff.
