Lady Camels Take on Lipscomb Monday

NASHVILLE, TENN.-After snagging its fifth consecutive win on Saturday, Campbell heads to Lipscomb Monday for a 5 p.m. Atlantic Sun tilt inside Allen Arena.

The Lady Camels (6-10, 5-2 A-Sun) have tallied a perfect 5-0 record since the turn of the New Year, all A-Sun games. The five game streak ties the longest for CU since 2004, when the Lady Camels took five in a row from Jan. 24 (62-60 at Belmont) to Feb. 7 (64-63 at Jacksonville).

At Belmont on Saturday, Tonisha Baker and Jazmine Cooper combined for 28 points to lead CU past the Bruins, 60-57.

Baker a sophomore guard, led CU with 15 points and seven rebounds, adding four assists in the win. Cooper gathered 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting with six rebounds and a pair of steals. Kate Cloxton and Courtney Cannon both posted eight points for the Lady Camels.

Junior guard Amanda O'Neill tallied five points, six rebounds and a pair of assists for CU, while senior forward Lauren Yesh collected four points and six boards.

Baker leads the Lady Camels on the season at 11.5 points per game, adding 5.7 rebounds. Yesh registers 8.5 points per game, with Cooper adding 8.3 points a contest. Both forwards gather 6.3 boards per game for the Lady Camels. Cloxton also collects 8.3 points a game, along with 4.1 assists.

Lipscomb (7-9, 4-3 A-Sun) is coming off a 56-52 setback at Belmont on Thursday, where the Bisons rallied from 16 down, coming within one point of the lead before time ran out. Senior guard Jenna Bartsokas led the Bisons with 15 points and five assists, while junior guard Anna Bowers scored 12. Junior forward Brittany Duerk also recorded eight points and 10 rebounds for LU.

Bartsokas leads the Bisons on the season at 15.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, while Bowers pours in 14.0 points a contest. Sophomore wing Hannah Phillips also collects 7.1 points and 4.6 rebounds, while Duerk tops Lipscomb on the glass at 5.6 rebounds per game.

The Lady Camels have taken three in a row over the Bisons, including both meetings last season. The all-time series, dating back to 2004 when Lipscomb joined the A-Sun, is tied at seven games apiece.

Campbell will be back in action next weekend in Buies Creek, hosting Stetson on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 1 p.m. Florida Gulf Coast will also head into the Pope Center on Monday.
