BUIES CREEK - The Campbell University women's soccer team hosts Coastal Carolina this evening (Thursday) at 5 p.m. The Camels (10-3-2, 4-0-2 BSC) are coming off a 2-1 victory at Liberty on Saturday night that places them second in the Big South Conference with 14 points, trailing Radford for first place.
Coastal enters tonight's match at 2-12-2, 2-4-1 in the Big South. The Chanticleers are coming off a 1-1 draw against Charleston Southern on Tuesday night. CCU has beaten UNC Asheville and VMI this season, while dropping a 1-0 match to Valparaiso. CU defeated Valpo 3-2 earlier this season.
Campbell and Coastal Carolina have met six times in program history, with the Camels holding a slim 3-2-1 advantage. Last season, CU rallied for a 3-2 double overtime win in Buies Creek, after trailing 2-0 late in the second half.
Campbell has reached the ten-win mark for the first time since the 2004 team won 12 matches en route to an Atlantic Sun Championship. The single season wins record in program history is 15, set by the 1995 team that finished 15-3-3.
Tonight is the annual Kick Out Cancer match, and Campbell University encourages fans to wear pink to tonight's match as the Marketing and Promotions staff promote cancer research and awareness.
