CLINTON, S.C. – Byron Quinatoa scored in the 98th minute to lift Presbyterian to a 3-2 overtime victory against visiting Campbell Saturday in Big South Conference men's soccer action.
Quinatoa and Ignacio Monchetti gave the Blue Hose (2-9, 2-1 Big South) a two-goal lead after 71 minutes for Campbell (5-6-1, 1-2) rallied to force extra time.
Travis Golden scored twice – in the 78th and 89th minutes – for Campbell, which finished the game with a 33-14 advantage in shots, 20-6 in the second period.
"It was a disappointing game, top to bottom," said Campbell head coach Steve Armas. "We did not show up until late in the second half. Just a poor performance all around."
Golden put the Camels on the board in the 78th minute when he headed in a corner kick from Mitchell Cardenas.
Just 11 minutes later, Jhuvon Francis and Jonathan Ray set up Golden for his third goal of the season.
In the overtime period, Monchetti set up Quinatoa for a shot outside the box that he netted for his fourth goal of the year.
Campbell keeper Ryan Amons finished with 6 saves, while PC keeper Ethan Watson had 10.
Coming off a 1-0 overtime victory Tuesday at home against NC State, the Camels topped the 30-shot barrier for the second time this year. However, Campbell dropped a one-goal decision once again. CU outshot Loyola (Md.) 30-5 last month only to fall 1-0 to the Greyhounds.
Campbell continues its 4-match road stretch Tuesday night at Virginia Tech.
