BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell midfielder Mitchell Cardenas has been tabbed the Big South Conference Choice Hotels men's soccer attacking player of the week, while Aldo Macias of Radford garnered the defensive player of the week honor for games played Oct. 24-30.
Cardenas, a junior from Mexico City, Mexico, tallied four goals and an assist to lead his Camels to a 2-0 Big South record last week. He was in on every goal in the 3-1 win over Liberty on Oct. 25 as he kicked in a pair of goals and dished out an assist.
Against VMI on Oct. 29, Cardenas netted the game-winner and posted an insurance goal in the 80th minute to lift Campbell to the 3-2 win. For his efforts in the two-game span, Cardenas was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
Cardenas leads the team in scoring with 18 points on 6 goals and 6 assists. He has produced 5 goals – including 2 game-winners -- and 2 assists in 7 conference games.
Campbell entered Tuesday's game at High Point on a 4-game win streak and unbeaten in its last five outings (4-0-1).
