Men's Basketball inks pair during early recruitment period

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Jordan Faciane of Morrow, Ga., and D.J. Mason of Clarkton, N.C., signed athletics grants-in-aid with Campbell University during the early recruitment period.

"I really like the direction our program is headed, and I feel really good about these two young men making immediate contributions," said ninth-year Fighting Camel head coach Robbie Laing."

A 6-foot-4 combo guard from Morrow High School, Faciane averaged 17 points per game as a junior for the Mustangs, where he is coached by James Livingston.  He was coached by Alan Richards with the Griffin (Ga.) Grasshoppers AAU team.

"Jordan has the ability to play the point or either wing position," said Laing.  "He is a very sturdy young man at 210 points, has a great shot, is an exceptional passer, good defender and really fits nicely into our new system offensively.  He's an outstanding student and a great fit for the Campbell University family.  He's a bright young man from a great family and has been well-coached."

Mason was a second-team all-state choice as a junior when he was named Waccamaw Conference player of the year.  The 6-foot-6, 215-pound forward averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds as a junior at West Bladen High School, where he is coached by Travis Pait.

In addition, he is coached by Nathan Faulk on the Wilmington-based Flight 22 Blizzard Athletics AAU squad.

"D.J. is a left-handed forward with a lot of skills.  He can handle the ball, shoot the three, get to the rim, and is an all-around player who will fit nicely into our fast-break style of play," said Laing.  "He has a high-motor and lots of energy.  His high school coach Travis Pait has helped develop him lately.  It's exciting to bring in a player of D.J.'s caliber from close by in a highly-competitive recruiting area."
