BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Campbell University men's tennis team defeated Liberty 5-2, Monday in the first home match of the season. The Camels captured four of the singles matches, and picked up the crucial doubles point.

Davy Sum led the way for Campbell (3-1, 0-0 A-Sun) in singles play as he defeated Siim Tuus, 6-4, 6-4 in the number one position. Sum is now 4-0 for the spring season and 14-4 overall.

Dominik Kaniewski picked up his second victory of the season in the four position by defeating Piotr Kruk (6-0, 6-2). David Clavera earned a victory in the five position over Mandeep Yadev (6-0, 6-1), while Josep Baro beat Stanislav Vaughan (6-0, 6-4) in the six spot.

The Camels jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after sweeping all three doubles matches. Sum and Kaniewski earned their first victory of the season as they defeated Tuus and Kruk (8-4) in the one position. Lamzouri and Fernando Guillen picked up a win in the two spot over Tristan Stayt and Giancarlo Lemmi (8-5), while Ondrej Kralik and Baro defeated Vaughan and Benjamin Wirth (8-5) in the third position.

Campbell improves to 3-1 on the season, while Liberty falls to 1-3.

The Camels return to the courts Friday, Feb. 18 as they travel to Greensboro N.C., to take on the UNC Greensboro Spartans. Match time is 2:00 p.m.
