KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Sarah Bejgrowicz is tied for 1st place
individually and Campbell sits in 5th place in the team standings
after Sunday's first round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island
Classic.
Bejgrowicz shot a
three-under-par 69 on the par-72, 6001-yard Cougar Point layout and
is tied with Betsy Birchall of William & Mary and Mary
Chamberlain of James Madison atop the leader board heading into
Monday's second round. The 54-hole event concludes Tuesday.
James Madison and
Miami both shot 8-over 296 to lead the 33-school field after 18
holes. Western Carolina (297) is third, followed by Florida
International (298), Campbell (299), Elon (301) and Central
Arkansas (301).
Campbell junior
Michelle Koh is tied for 24th at three-over 75, while Kaylin Yost
is tied for 56th (77), Sandra Angulo 68th (78) and Teresa Urquizu
162nd (91).
Freshmen Ali Prazak
and Maria Jose Benavides are also playing for Campbell as
individuals in the tournament. Prazak shot an opening-round 76 and
is tied for 34th place. Benavides carded a 78 and is tied for
68th.
