Sarah Bejgrowicz named A-Sun women's golfer of the week

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - After claiming her second career individual title and leading Campbell to a runner-up finish at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic, Sarah Bejgrowicz of Campbell University has been named Atlantic Sun Conference women's golfer of the week.

The senior from Lancaster, Pa., shot even-par 216 (69-71-76) to lead the 172-player field and help Campbell earn its best team finish of the 2010-11 season.

Bejgrowicz' opening round 69 marked her lowest 18-hole score of the year, and came just one stroke shy of her career low.

Atlantic Coast Conference member Miami (296-297-295-888) won team honors at the Kiawah Classic, nine strokes ahead of Campbell (299-301-296-897) in the 33-school event. No.-29 Florida International (298-303-300-901) finished third in the team standings, two strokes ahead of Western Carolina (297-304-302-903). Host College of Charleston (305-299-306-910), Nebraska (307-302-301-910) and Akron (305-303-302-910) tied for 5th.

Bejgrowicz had 8 birdies over the 54-hole event and posted her third-straight top-10 individual finish. She now has 11 collegiate top-10 performances, including a victory in the 2009 Jacksonville Spring Invitational.

She lowered her season stroke average to 75.6. The 2010 2nd-team A-Sun all-conference performer tied for 9th at the LPGA International/Xavier Invitational and was 10th at the Palmetto Intercollegiate last October.

Campbell continues its spring season Mar. 6-8 at the Barefoot at the Beach event in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
