CREEK, N.C.-Campbell senior Courtney

Academic All-District III Women's Basketball team, as announced by
the College Sports Information Directors of America
(CoSIDA).

majoring in accounting. The Starkville, Miss. native is averaging
7.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game for the Lady Camels, hitting
.857 percent from the free throw line, second in the Atlantic

"We're very excited for Courtney," said CU head coach Wanda
Watkins. "This is an outstanding achievement for someone who
just epitomizes what you're seeking in a student-athlete. We're
honored to have a player from our program chosen for a great award
like this."
The senior paced CU with 14 points off the bench in the Lady
Camels' 65-63 win at Jacksonville on Monday, and has posted double
figure points in three of her last five games. Cannon also notched
a career-high 22 points at Lipscomb in an 81-66 victory, part of an
8-2 January for Campbell.
Cannon was also named A-Sun Academic All-District as a junior at
Campbell after a two-year stop at Itawamba Community College, where
the guard earned Academic All-American status.
Cannon is the third Lady Camel in history to receive Academic
All-District honors. Ashley Moore (1994-98) was the first to earn
the honor, earning Academic All-American status in 1997. Ashley
Moore was also an All-District performer in 1998. Sara Moore
(1997-01) was also a two-time All-District III honoree, taking home
awards in both 2000 and 2001.
Laura Broomfield of North Carolina, Monique Floyd of UNC
Greensboro, Mackenzie Maier from High Point, Brittany Strachan of
North Carolina State and Allison Vernerey from Duke joined Cannon
on the CoSIDA District III Second Team.

weekend.
