ORANGE PARK, FLA. - Michelle Koh is tied for 19th and Campbell sits
in 11th place in the team standings following Friday's opening
round of the James Madison/Eagle Landing Invitational women's golf
tournament.
Chattanooga leads the 18-school field at 8-over-par 296, seven
strokes ahead of second-place Stetson (303). East Carolina (304)
is third, one shot better than both Maryland (305) and Florida Gulf
Coast (305).
Campbell shot 311 on Friday, two strokes behind both Illinois and
Miami (309) and one better than Kennesaw State, Illinois State and
Central Arkansas.
Only three players in the 98-golfer field finished under par
Friday; on the par-72, 6282-yard Eagle Landing Golf Club
layout.
Briana
Carlson of FGCU shot two-under 70 to take a one-stroke edge over
Courtney Taylor of UNC Greensboro and Mallory Viera of Stetson into
Saturday's second round. The 54-hole event concludes Sunday.
Koh is in an 11-way tie for 19th place at four-over 76. Campbell
seniors Sandra Angulo and Sarah Bejgrowicz and freshman Alexandra
Prazak are in a 13-way log jam for 38th place at plus-six 78.
Freshman Kaylin Yost shot seven-over 79 and is tied for 51st, while
classmate Maria Jose Benavides is tied for 57th (80).
