CRYSTAL RIVER, FLA. - Maria Jose Benavides is tied for sixth
individually and Campbell sits third in the team standings after
Friday's first round of the Cincinnati Spring Invitational women's
golf tournament.
Benavides shot a one-over-par 73 Friday on the par-72 layout and is
four strokes behind individual leader Paige Lausier of Morehead
State, who shot a 3-under 69.
Emily Flanigan of Florida Southern is second (70), one stroke in
front of Kelsey Kipp (71) of North Texas and Amy Anderson of North
Dakota State. Marianne Andersson of Florida Southern is fifth
(72).
Morehead State (290) is in first place in the 21-team standings,
five strokes ahead of Florida Southern (295). Campbell is third,
one stroke in front of Elon (301) and North Texas (301). Marshall
(302), Stetson (303), Mercer (307), Houston Baptist (310) and Ohio
(310) round out the top-10.
Campbell senior Sandra Angulo is tied for 13th at two-over 74.
Kaylin Yost (75) is tied for 19th, while Sarah Bejgrowicz and
Michelle Koh are tied for 48th (78).
The 54-hole tournament continues with Saturday's second round and
Sunday's final round at the Plantation Golf Resort.
