BUIES CREEK,
N.C. - The Campbell University men's tennis team climbed to the #70
national ranking this week, according to the Campbell's/ ITA
College Tennis Rankings. The Camels are 7-1 on the season, and 1-0
in Atlantic Sun play.
The Camels are
currently on a five match winning streak following a 7-0 victory
over Florida Gulf Coast Thursday. Campbell has wins over defending
Southern Conference champions UNC Greensboro and Big South members
Liberty and Coastal Carolina.
Campbell is led by
senior Davy Sum who is 8-0 on the season.
The Strasbourg, France native hasn't dropped a set all
season.
In Division I,
the ITA (National) Rankings are determined by a computerized
system, using the ITA's average points-per-match formula. They are
released about 17 times during the season (pre-season, fall, and 14
times on a weekly basis in the spring and year-end). The Division I
top 75 teams, top 125 singles players and top 80 doubles teams
receive an ITA ranking. The ITA Rankings are also used in selection
of all ITA National Championships.
The Camels
return to the courts Friday as they take on Stetson, in DeLand Fla.
