BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Sporting 15 top-three marks in the Atlantic Sun
for the outdoor season, the Camels are getting set for this
weekend's Atlantic Sun Outdoor Track & Field Championships,
hosted by the University of North Florida.
Sophomore Diego
Lawrence has eight top-five finishes on the outdoor season,
including two long jump victories which came at the Shamrock
Invitational on Mar. 19 and the Weems Baskin Invitational on Mar.
26. Lawrence has the best mark in the A-Sun for the outdoor season
in the long jump (7.55 meters) and triple jump (14.69 meters). He
has the second-best mark in the 100 meter (10.58 seconds) and 200
meter (21.67 seconds).
Sophomore Jessica
Dunston won the shot put at the Weems Baskin Invitational and
also won the hammer throw at the Shamrock Invitational. Her mark
of 12.59 meters in the shot put at the Liberty Collegiate
Invitational on Apr. 2 set a school record and is fourth in the
conference. Dunston is ranked second in the conference in the
hammer throw (50.62 meters) and fourth in the discus throw (38.55
meters).
Senior Adoniss
Jones has finished in the top-five three times in the 110 meter
hurdles and twice in the 400 meter hurdles during the outdoor
campaign. The defending A-Sun Outdoor Champion in the 110 meter
hurdles has the second-best time in the conference this season at
14.19 seconds and the third-best time in the 400 meter hurdles at
54.41 seconds.
Freshman Chris
Schulist won the 1,500 meter run and freshman Jayshawn
Campbell won the 400 meter dash at the Liberty Collegiate
Invitational. J. Campbell's time of 48.05 in the 400 meter dash is
tops in the conference for the outdoor campaign.
The Campbell men finished third and the women finished sixth at the
A-Sun Indoor Championships Feb. 18-19.
Lawrence medaled in four events, including a victory in the long
jump, and was named Most Valuable Performer. Junior Rashad
Campbell was named Most Outstanding Track Performer and won
gold in the 60 meter and 200 meter dashes.

White swept the podium for the Camels in both the 60 and 200
meter dashes.
On the women's side, Dunston took silver in the weight throw.
Several Campbell athletes will not compete this weekend due to
injury, including Robert
Brunson and Nadia
Natt, who had the highest mark in the conference in the triple
jump (11.99 meters) during the outdoor campaign.
At last season's A-Sun Outdoor Championships, the Camels notched 15
all-conference honors including four event championships as the men
finished third and the women sixth. Kennesaw State took the men's
team crown, and Jacksonville took the women's title.
Day one competition will begin Friday at 9:00 a.m. with the women's
heptathlon followed by the men's decathlon. The men's 10,000 meter
run will wrap up the day's events at 8:25 p.m.
Day two action will get underway with the conclusion of the men's
decathlon at 9:00 a.m. The women's 4x400 meter relay will conclude
the competitive portion of the event at 8:45 p.m. which will be
followed by the championship presentation at 9:00 p.m.
