FLA. - Sophomore Diego
Lawrence won the men's long jump with a personal best leap 7.69
meters as part of day one action for the Camels at the Atlantic Sun
Outdoor Track Championships, hosted by North Florida.
Lawrence also qualified for the 100 meter dash final to be held
tomorrow with a personal best time of 10.56 seconds. Junior Rashad
Campbell set a school record in the qualifying round of the
men's 100 meter dash with a mark of 10.48 seconds. Junior Cameron
White qualified as well to give the Camels three members in
tomorrow's final with a personal best time of 10.68 seconds.
Sophomore Jessica
Dunston broke her own school record and finished second in the
women's shot put with a mark of 13.23 meters. Dunston also
finished third in the hammer throw with a hurl of 48.96 meters.
Freshman Brianna
Kincade qualified eighth for tomorrow's women's 100 meter dash
with a time of 12.49 seconds. Freshman Mariah
Collins qualified fifth for tomorrow's women's 100 meter
hurdles with a personal best time of 14.79 seconds.
Senior Terence
Attema placed third in the men's 10,000 meter run with a time
of 31:15.18. Senior Baillie
Locke finished seventh in the women's 10,000 meter run with a
time of 38:36.19.
Senior Adoniss
Jones qualified second for the men's 110 meter hurdles to be
held tomorrow with a time of 14.15 seconds. Jones also placed
sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.62 meters. Sophomore Chris
Lassiter finished eighth in the long jump to give the Camels three
top-10 finishes in the event with a mark of 6.58 meters.
Junior Dave
Matthews finished fourth in the hammer throw with a school
record mark of 49.30 meters.
Matthews also finished fifth in the men's shot put with a personal
best mark of 13.69 meters.
As a team, the CU men are in fourth place with 29 points, and the
women are fifth with 16 points. Kennesaw State leads the way for
both the men (60 points) and the women (52 points) at the
conclusion of day one.
Action gets underway tomorrow with the conclusion of the men's
decathlon at 9:00 a.m.
