COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - Campbell infielder Keeli
Michael (Welcome, N.C./North Davidson) has been chosen as one
of 247 student-athletes from schools nationwide to be named an
All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete by the National
Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
The award recognizes student-athletes that show dedication in the
areas of strength training and conditioning. Michael was one of two
Campbell athletes to earn the award along with football's Mike
Stryffeler. The 247 athletes that were recognized by the NSCA
represent 96 schools. Michael was selected by Campbell's strength
and conditioning coach Andrew Carter, MS, CSCS.
"Keeli is our strongest female athlete," Coach Carter explained.
"Her hard work in the weight room has carried over to the softball
field as our starting second and third baseman the last four years.
Keeli is the type of student-athlete that as a coach you want all
your female athletes to train like."
Alan Kinniburgh, NSCA's Executive Director added, "The advantage of
strength training and conditioning cannot be denied in collegiate
athletics. Both Keeli and Mike attest to this understanding, and
are to be applauded for their hard work and dedication."
The NSCA's All-American Athlete of the Year Award program is in its
33rd year and is made possible by a grand from Power System, Inc.
