Chernaya completed an undefeated conference record (10-0) and
Campbell defeated USC Upstate 6-1 Friday afternoon at the NIsbet
Tennis Center. The Camels (13-6, 8-2 A-Sun) clinched the number two
seed in next weekends A-Sun tournament as a result of the
victory.
In the one spot, senior Lisa
Sutton defeated Maria Tonani (6-2, 6-3) in her final home match
as a Camel. The Kelsall, England native is 15-4 this season in
singles play.
Chernaya defeated Karen Martinez (6-2, 6-1) in the two spot for her
twelfth straight victory. Borislava
Nikolova picked up a victory in the three position over
Ana-Sofia Camberos (6-3, 6-4).
Campbell earned victories in the five and six spots from Anais
Gomar and Loudres Ros. Gomar and Ros didn't drop a single game
in their victories (6-0, 6-0).
The Camels jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by sweeping all three
doubles matches. Sutton and Dominek
Wallaart won their sixth match in a row as they defeatd
Martinez and Comberos (8-5) in the one spot.
Campbell will conclude its regular season schedule tomorrow as they
travel to Charleston, S.C. to take on Charleston Southern. Match
time is set for 10:00 a.m.
