BUIES CREEK, N.C.-For the second straight year, Campbell junior Josh
Holskey has been named First Team Academic All-District 3 by
the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America
(CoSIDA).
Holskey's selection is the 13th time a Camel has been
named Academic All-District, and the fourth time a CU
student-athlete has earned honors multiple times. Kent Cox (1994,
95, 96), William McLean (1997, 98) and Mike Priest (2005, 06) all
took multiple honors during their Campbell careers.
The Roanoke, Va. native was named to the list's first team last
season as a designated hitter, while this season Holskey joins the
squad as an infielder, starting 34 of his 41 games at first
base.
Holskey is hitting .340 this season with 32 RBIs and a team-high
four home runs. The junior also adds 26 runs and nine doubles for
the Camels. A kinesiology major, Holskey also owns a 3.88 grade
point average in the classroom.
Kennesaw State's Ronnie Freeman (C, So.), Jacksonville's Dan
Gulbransen (OF, So.) and Mercer's Billy Burns (OF, Jr.) are
Atlantic Sun members joining Holskey on the District 3 First Team.
JU's Jonathan Murphy (IF, Jr.) and Mercer's Jacob Tanis (IF, Jr.)
earned spots on the District 3 Second Team.
Paul Hoilman (IF, Sr.) of East Tennessee State and Judah Akers (DH,
So.) of Belmont also were honored as District 4 First Team
members.
With the first team honor, Holskey is now a nominee for CoSIDA
Academic All-America status. First, Second and Third CoSIDA
Academic All-America Teams will be announced later this month.
