BUIES CREEK, N.C.-Summer collegiate baseball is in full swing
across the country, and five Camels are honing their skills in
three leagues.
Jimmy
Brenneman (Hamilton Joes / Great Lakes Summer Collegiate
League) - In the Joes' season opener, Brenneman went
2-for-3, scoring a run and walking twice. The West Chester, Ohio
native also stole a base as the Joes defeated the Lexington
Hustlers 5-0.
Ryne
Briley (Gastonia Grizzlies / Coastal Plain League) -
The Seattle, Wash. native is batting .176 in 11 games, scoring four
and driving in three runs. Briley has notched a triple and has
swiped 5-of-6 bases for the 5-7 Grizzlies.
Erick
Gaylord (Watertown Wizards / Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball
League) - Gaylord currently stands 11th in the
PGCBL in batting with a .429 average after two games. The rising
senior has posted a 3-for-7 clip at the plate, driving in two and
scoring once while stealing three bases in three attempts. The
Wizards are 0-2 in the early going.
Matt
Marksberry (Hamilton Joes / Great Lakes Summer Collegiate
League) - Did not see action in the Joes only game so far
this season.
Ryan
Mattes (Peninsula Pilots / Coastal Plain League) -
Mattes has fashioned a 2.00 ERA in four appearances with a 1-0
record after picking up a win in his last appearance. The rising
junior has fanned eight and walked only one in nine innings for the
8-4 Pilots.
