CLEVELAND, Ohio – Just a few weeks from starting preseason camp and the 2011 season, Campbell's football program received some encouraging news as five of the team's players garnered national recognition with places on Phil Steele's Preseason All-Pioneer Football League Team, the national magazine announced this morning (July 20th).
Senior Rashaun Brown (RB) and redshirt senior Jared Hart (DB) highlight the first team selection for CU. Campbell also had three on the second team in seniors Sam Issermoyer (OL) and Branden Burt (OL) and redshirt senior Randel Herring (DL).
Rashaun Brown, Running Back, Sr., Winston-Salem, N.C./Glenn
Named to the PFL Academic Honor Roll…played in nine games with a start…led the team with 673 yards rushing and an average of 5.7 yards a carry…his average of 74.8 yards a game led the team and ranked him second in the conference…topped the 100 yard barrier twice with 133 yards against Georgia State (9/25) and 113 yards on the ground against Morehead State (11/20)…ran for 85 plus yards on three other occasions with 85 against UVA Wise (9/4), 91 against Butler (10/2) and 86 against Jacksonville (11/13)…also ran for three touchdowns and caught a pair of passes for 20 yards out of the backfield.
Jared Hart, Defensive Back, R-Sr., Durham, N.C./North Raleigh Christian Academy
A 2010 Second Team All-PFL selection…played in and started all 11 games at cornerback...second on the team with 27 solo tackles...ranked eighth on the team overall with 43 stops...had four pass defense and registered 2.5 tackles for loss…his pass defended ranked him third on the team…recorded a team-high 11 tackles against Dayton (10/23)…his 11 tackles tied a career-high… part of a secondary that ranked second in the league in pass defense (198.82)… named Honorable Mention All-PFL in 2009 as a defensive back…named to Phil Steele's Preseason All-PFL Second Team in 2010.
Sam Issermoyer, Offensive Tackle, Sr., Eldersburg, Md. /Liberty
A 2010 Second Team All-PFL selection…played in and started all 11 games at left tackle…had 14 pancake blocks and led the team with 38 lumberjacks…aided team to top ranking in the conference in rushing (207.73 yards per game)…the team finished 16th nationally in rushing…his line also allowed the second least amount of sacks in the conference (1.55) and tied for 40th nationally in sacks allowed…his offense ranked fourth in the league in scoring offense (23.73)…aided Campbell to a school-record 416 yards rushing against Valparaiso (11/6)…the team was able to rush for more than 200 yards in four games…the offense ran for 2,285 yards on the season (an improvement of 198 yards from the previous year)…has been a key component to the Camels leading in the conference in rushing in each of the last two seasons…named Second Team All-PFL in 2009 as an offensive lineman… named to Phil Steele's Preseason All-PFL First Team in 2010.
Branden Burt, Offensive Line, Sr., Greenville, N.C. / D.H. Conley

Randel Herring, Defensive Line, R-Sr., Benson, N.C. / West Johnston
A Second Team All-PFL selection in 2010…played in and started all 11 games at defensive tackle…ranked sixth on the team and first among all defensive lineman with 48 tackles…was eighth among all d-lineman in the PFL with 48 tackles…recorded two tackles for loss, a sack and a pass defense as well…had a 12 tackle and sack effort against Butler (10/2)…led the team in tackles against the Bulldogs…totaled seven tackles against UVA-Wise (9/4) and eight tackles against Davidson (9/18)
Campbell's football team reports back to campus on August 1st. The team's first practice will be held in the morning on August 3rd. The Camels led the conference in rushing in 2010 in racking up an overall record of 3-8 and 2-6 in Pioneer Football League play. CU opens the 2011 football season on the road on Sept. 3 against Old Dominion at 6 p.m. Campbell's will play its first home game on Sept. 10 at Barker-Lane Stadium against Apprentice at 1 p.m.
