CHARLOTTE, N.C.---Ashley Clark (Cary, N.C.) got off to a fast start as a college student-athlete by taking home Big South Conference honors for Attacker-of-the-Week during the season's first week of play. The honors were announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Over the previous weekend, Clark scored the game-winning goal for Campbell in each of her first two collegiate contests.
The Panther Creek High School graduate came out firing in her college debut at Delaware State on Saturday morning, scoring on her first shot attempt and finishing the match with six shots as the Camels defeated the Hornets 5-0. A day later, Clark helped her team to a 1-0 lead in the first half over UMBC as the Camels went on to a 2-0 victory to improve to 2-0 overall on the season. Clark finished the UMBC match with three shots, giving her nine shots and two goals scored in the season's first two games.
"For Ashley to score the game-winning goal in each of our first two games is a great start for her individually, but she'll be the first to tell you that she had help from the players around her," head coach Todd Clark said. "She had a great two games and we look for many more to come."
