Camel Men Fifth, Women Seventh in First Big South Cross Country Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Campbell's men have been selected fifth, while the women's squad was chosen seventh in the Big South's 2011 preseason cross country polls by the league's head coaches, announced today by the conference office.

High Point's men and Liberty's women's teams are ranked first in their respective polls.

The Camel men return sophomore Morgan Timiney who earned Second Team All Atlantic Sun and league All-Freshman accolades in 2010. Junior DeLohnni Nicol-Samuel is also a former all-conference performer, taking second team and all-freshman accolades as a rookie in 2009.

The CU women, meanwhile, will be led by sophomore Ashley Matthews, who garnered all-freshman honors last year as well.

Campbell finished fifth on the men's side in its final season in the A-Sun, with the women's team finishing eighth. Last year's team featured 16 combined freshmen, including nine on the women's roster.

The Camels will kick off the 2011 season in Buies Creek on Sep. 3 with the Campbell Invitational.
