BUIES CREEK, N.C. — Following five weeks of preseason camp, Campbell's football team started game preparation for Saturday's game, Sept. 3, against Old Dominion on Monday, Aug. 29 at Barker-Lane Stadium/Ed Gore Field.
The team's practice was light in just helmets and shorts and the pace was quick. The Camels continued to fine tune many areas and installing the finishing touches of the game plan for ODU in the session that lasted for just an hour.
"This is an exciting week for our football team," Coach Steele said. "We started working for this since the end of last season. We worked toward this week with the goal of having the opportunity to start another chapter in our program's history. The returning seniors, the camp, the off-season program, the spring practice all led to this journey that is starting on Saturday with our first game against Old Dominion. It is another phase for our football team. The enthusiasm is high. The guys are practicing with a little more pep in their step. The challenge is great; but it is certainly exciting for our football team. Going and playing such a quality opponent in Old Dominion in our first week and finding out where we are as a football program is exciting. We had a good day of practice today. We came out and worked on some game situations, got back and worked on the passing game, worked some on kick situations and put in some real game preparation for ODU."
The Camels will continue practicing all week and head up to Norfolk, Va. on take on ODU on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium.
Note: The Campbell football program would like to remind all fans that attend the practices that they are free to take pictures up until the 12th period. After the 12th period no pictures are allowed to be taken.
