After 17 years as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, Campbell returned to its roots on July 1, 2011 when it re-joined the Big South Conference, of which it was a charter member.  This is the first installment in a year-long celebration of Campbell's return to the Big South.

From the 1984-1993 seasons, Campbell University was a men's soccer power in the Big South Conference, compiling a 51-17-1 (.746) record in regular season league play, winning four Big South tournament championships and appearing in three other finals (1986, 1989, 1993).

Campbell still holds the best overall regular season league winning percentage (.746) of all current Big South members.

The Camels won the first two Big South tournaments (1984, 1985) under the direction of head coach Tim Morse and also claimed back-to-back titles behind the leadership of head coach Derrick Leeson (1991, 1992).

Campbell also owns the best Big South Tournament record of all current members with a 73.9 winning percentage (17-6-0), while also claiming five regular season crowns (1984, 1985, 1988, 1990, 1993).

From 1984-93, Campbell players earned Big South Tournament MVP honors four times as David Nisbet (1984), Per Jensen (1985) and Rami Kauppi (1991 and 1992) were voted the top performer at the league championship.

Camels were named Big South Player of the Year three times from 1988-93 as Juha Miettinen (1988), John Payne (1989) and Brian Hunter (1993) claimed the honor.

Coach of the Year honors went to Campbell's Tim Morse (1984, 1985), Gary Hall (1988) and Derrick Leeson (1993) during CU's first decade in the Big South. 

David Doyle set a Big South record that still stands (and led the nation) with 34 goals in 1986 en route to earning All-America honors.  Brian Hunter (23 goals in 1993), Toni Siikala (23 in 1993) and Rami Kauppi (20 in 1992) also rank among the top-10 single-season goal scorers in Big South history.

Pat Gross dealt 23 assists for the Camels in 1993 to set a Big South and NCAA Division I single-season record.

Peter Moore (1986-89) still holds the Big South record for career saves (406) and shutouts (24).

Three Camels earned All-America honors during the program's first Big South era – David Doyle (1986), Juha Miettinen (1988) and Toni Siikala (1993).

Campbell players were named to the NSCAA All-South team 15 times during the program's initial Big South era.

CU players were recognized on the all-conference teams 35 times in the program's 10 years as a Big South member (1984-93), including 4-time all-league choices John Payne (1987-90) and Rami Kauppi (1989-92).

Camels earned Big South Player of the Week honors 12 times in five seasons after the league began the weekly recognition in 1989.
