PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – Michelle Koh finished sixth overall and Campbell placed third in the team standings following Tuesday's final round of the Golfweek Program Challenge women's tournament at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club.
A senior from Kuantan, Malaysia, Koh shot 72-72-75—219 to finish at six-over-par on the par-71, 2003-yard layout and earn her sixth career top-10 individual finish.
Freshman Lisbeth Brooks and sophomore Kaylin Yost also produced top-20 individual finishes for Campbell, which combined for a total of 883 strokes (292-295-296), which ties for the 4th-best 54-hole team showing in the program's history.
East Carolina (283-297-291—871) won the 12-school event by seven strokes over second-place James Madison (291-290-297—878). Campbell (292-295-296—883) was third, followed by Texas State (291-292-302—885), South Florida (298-301-291—890) and UNC Wilmington (299-296-304—899).
Christina Miller of South Florida won medalist honors at four-under-par 209 (73-70-66) by shooting the event's low round over the final 18 holes. Runner-up Nicole Sakamoto of James Madison (69-71-71—211) was the only other player in the 60-golfer field to finish in red numbers.
One day after shooting the second-lowest round in Lady Camel golf history, Brooks earned a top-15 showing in her collegiate debut. The native of Waunakee, Wisc., shot 78-67-77—222 to tie for 14th place at nine-over par.
Yost, a sophomore from Pembroke Pines, Fla., recorded the team's low round of the day – even-par 71 – and tied for 16th place at 10-over 223 (74-78-71).
Freshman Brooke Bellomy (74-78-73—225) tied for 22nd in her first collegiate event after birdying two of her final four holes to shoot two-over for the day. Junior Teresa Urquizu (72-85-79—236) tied for 43rd place.
Campbell continues its fall schedule Sept. 25-26 at the Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico.
