BALTIMORE, MD. – For the second-straight year, Campbell held a decisive advantage in shots over Loyola (Md.).  On Saturday night, however, the Greyhounds scored the game's only goal despite being out-shot 30-5.

Connor Thompson's strike in the 74th minute proved to be the winner and sent the Greyhounds (4-1-1) to their third-straight victory.  Campbell (3-2-1), which lost its second-straight match, held a 22-8 edge in attempts during last year's scoreless draw at Buies Creek, N.C.

On Saturday, Loyola keeper Kyle Wittman made 10 saves to register his third shutout of the season and was helped by the woodwork when J.J. Elder his the post in the 88th minute.

Loyola scored against the flow of play when Thompson broke a scoreless tie on just the third shot of the game for the Greyhounds.  Campbell out-shot Loyola 19-2 through 67 minutes before Thompson dribbled into the box and scored his first goal of the year.  After Thompson's goal, Campbell fired 11 shots in the final 13:25, but could not beat Wittman.

The first half was scoreless despite the fact that Campbell out-shot the Greyhounds 14-1 and took 9 corners to three for the hosts.

Loyola's only shot of the first half – a header by Hector Arellano off an eighth minute corner kick – was saved by CU keeper Ryan Amons, who finished the night with three stops.

Ricki Gaez had 9 of Campbell's 30 shots, including 3 on goal.

Ranked 6th in this week's North Atlantic Region poll, Loyola extended its unbeaten string to four contests (3-0-1).

Campbell returns home to the Eakes Complex on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off against Davidson.
