Campbell leads Big South Conference in Men's and Women's Basketball home attendance

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell leads all Big South schools in home basketball game attendance (1871) in its first year in the league, just in front of VMI (1861) and UNC Asheville (1820).  In Big South games only, CU leads the league in home attendance with an average of 2020 witnesses to the Camels' first 6 league home contests.  The Camels stand 9-1 at home this year, 5-1 vs. Big South competition in Buies Creek.

Attendance has as twice topped the 3000 mark in home games this year at 3095-seat Gilbert Craig Gore Arena.  A crowd of 3028 attended the Nov. 14 win over East Carolina, while 3035 came through the doors for a narrow loss to defending Big South champ UNC Asheville on Jan. 12.  Three of the top 5 home attendances in Gore Arena history have come during the 2011-12 season, including a gathering of 2947 for CU's 80-73 victory over VMI on Jan. 21.

Campbell (14-8, 8-2 Big South) carries a 4-game win streak into this week's action – Thursday at Gardner-Webb and Saturday at league-leading UNC Asheville.

Only three home games remain for the Fighting Camels, who stand in second place in the league standings and are battling for the privilege of hosting the Big South Tournament.  CU entertains Charleston Southern (Feb. 2) and Presbyterian (Feb. 4) before hosting Winthrop on Senior Night (Feb. 9).

In addition, the Lady Camels lead all Big South schools in home attendance with an average of 1017 spectators per contest.  A season-high 2754 fans attended Campbell's Education Day victory over Winston-Salem State on Nov. 29.

The Lady Camels own a perfect 8-0 record this season at home.  After games at Presbyterian (Saturday) and Winthrop (Monday), Campbell's next home women's contest is Feb. 4 vs. pre-season favorite Liberty
