BUIES CREEK – Campbell defeated Cleveland State 30-10 on Monday evening to win its eighth dual match of the season (the program's highest mark since the 1997-98 season) before falling to SoCon foe Appalachian State. CU moves to 8-9 overall and 2-1 in the Southern Conference.

Nick Rex and Joe Nolan both went 2-0 on the evening. Rex took a major decision over Brandon Sommers of Cleveland State at 157 pounds to help the Camels climb out of a 10-0 team score deficit and rally for the win. He then got the team on the scoreboard against the Mountaineers, taking a 2-0 overtime thriller over ASU's William Powell.

Nolan pinned Cleveland State's Garry Yarborogh in 1:16 to put the finishing touches on Campbell's 30-10 victory over the Vikings. The freshman then earned a hard-fought 3-2 decision over Joe Cummings of ASU to move to 8-7 individually during the rookie campaign.

The Fighting Camels will be back in action on Jan. 13-14, taking part in the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Va. Campbell returns to dual action on Jan. 20 as the team hosts Chattanooga in a Southern Conference matchup at 7 p.m.
