Kaylin Yost named Big South women's golfer of the week

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After earning medalist honors at the Fighting Camel Classic, Kaylin Yost of Campbell University has been named Choice Hotels Big South Conference women's golfer of the week.

A junior from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Yost won for the second time as a collegian, when she claimed a 3-stroke victory Tuesday at Keith Hills Country Club.  She made 9 birdies and had 36 pars and led the field with a one-over scoring average on the par 4 holes.

Yost added her individual title to the trophy she won last March at the James Madison Eagle Landing Invitational.  Her 217 marked the second-lowest 54-hole tally in the Fighting Camel Classic, which has been held 18 times.

On Monday, Yost set a new tournament 36-hole record of 142 (73-69) after her six-birdie second round on the par-72, 6026-yard Keith Hills layout, which yielded just three rounds under par during the event.

Yost owns the second-lowest scoring average (73.42) among Big South Conference golfers and she leads the league with four rounds of 70 or better in the 2012-13 campaign.

While breaking the tournament 54-hole team scoring record by four strokes, the Camels won their 14th Fighting Camel Classic title in the 18 times the event has been staged. CU has claimed the team tourney crown on 5-straight occasions.

Campbell now has two championships (including last month's Golfweek Program Challenge) and a pair of fourth-place showings in four outings this fall.

The Camels conclude their fall schedule this weekend (Oct. 27-28) with the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Oak Point GC in Kiawah Island, S.C.
