WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-Christopher Schulist notched a time of 4:15.07 in the men's mile, setting a new school record to lead Campbell Saturday at the JDL Fast Track Collegiate Invitational.
Schulist, a sophomore from Holland, Mich., broke Campbell's 30 year old men's indoor mile record, formerly held by Carl Ivarsson, who posted a time of 4:16.4 in 1982. Schulist, who owns a pair of top-5 finishes that includes a win already this season, placed seventh in the race.
Morgan Timiney notched an eighth place finish in the men's 3000 meters, clocking in with a personal best 8:42.62. Jayshawn Campbell, meanwhile, took eighth in the 400 meters, narrowly missing his personal best (49.63) with a time of 49.90 on Saturday.
Freshman DaVona Dula set a personal record in the weight throw, collecting a 14.49 meter toss to finish sixth on the day. Rudi Fate collected a pair of eighth place finishes, recording marks of 5.11 and 10.85 meters in the long and triple jumps, respectively.
In the finals of the women's 60 meter hurdles, Campbell sophomore Mariah Collins finished eighth with a time of 9.11, while Brianna Kincade placed 10th in the women's 200 meter dash, setting a personal best with a 26.33.
Cynthia Navarro collected a personal best in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:25.30, finishing seventh. Chelsey Bush also set a personal record in the race with a time of 10:31.51, coming in 11th. Ashley Matthews placed eighth in the women's mile, clocking in at 5:17.74.
CU's women's 4x400 meter relay squad, featuring Lynette Akai, Mariah Collins, Brianna Kincade and Tiana Teague, set a season best and finished sixth overall with a time of 4:05.45.
In all, Camels set 19 personal records in 22 total events on Saturday.
Campbell will be back in action next weekend, Feb. 18, at the UNC Gene Anderson Invitational.
