CONWAY, S.C.-Jessica Dunston won and reset the school hammer throw record for the second straight week, highlighting Friday's action at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational at Doug Shaw Stadium.
Dunston, a junior from Knightdale, N.C., posted a 54.59 meter mark on Friday in the win. Dunston also launched a then record 51.77 meter heave at last weekend's UNC Wilmington Seahawk Invitational.
The Camels, with Nadia Natt, Brianna Kincade, Tiana Teague and Lynette Akai, finished 17th of 32 teams in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:44.26.
Ashley Matthews placed eighth in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase with a personal record 11:38.68. Chelsey Bush followed in 10th, posting a personal best 11:44.92. Cynthia Navarro, meanwhile, took fifth in the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 17:53.23, a personal record. Claudia Mundy also placed ninth with a personal record 18:21.71.
Evan Darm picked up a personal best mark in the men's 5,000 meter run with a 15:17.95, finishing eighth, while Clayton Woll placed 15th with a time of 15:40.19, also a personal best
DeLohnni Nicol-Samuel registered a fifth place finish in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase with a personal record 9:34.40. Colin Lavigne also finished eighth in the race with a time of 9:43.36, also a personal record.
The men's 4x200 meter relay squad, featuring Stanley Hicks, Tyler Long, Andres Perez and Jayshawn Campbell, finished seventh of 19 teams, posting a time of 1:27.60.
Robert Brunson also placed 14th in the men's long jump with a 6.58 meter mark
Saturday's action will start at 9 a.m. with the men's and women's discus. The women's and men's 4x400 meter relay will close the day at approximately 5 p.m.
After the Shamrock Invite, the Camels will travel to Columbia, S.C. for the USC Weems Baskin Invitational on March 24.
