BUIES CREEK – The Campbell University women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Charleston Southern Friday afternoon despite singles victories from Natasha Afridi and Anais Gomar. The duo also picked up a doubles victory for the Camels (9-7, 1-6).
Afridi knocked off Angelica Sidorenko 6-4, 6-2 in the two spot. The Tokyo, Japan native is a team best 10-4 this season and 2-0 playing in the two position.
In the six position, Gomar defeated Susita Das 7-6, 7-5. The senior from Lleida, Spain is 9-6 in singles play.
The Buccaneers captured the doubles point, but Afridi and Gomar defeated Alia Nour and Sidorenko in the three spot (8-4). The win snapped a five match losing streak for the duo and improved them to 7-6 this season.
The Camels wrap up Big South conference play Tuesday, April 10 against Presbyterian at the Nisbet Tennis Center. Match time is set for 2:00 pm.
