BUIES CREEK, N.C.-Campbell finished day six of its 2012 preseason football camp on Tuesday morning.
The Camels continued to acclimate its young but talented receivers, installing the offense and working to solidify its system.
"It's hard to tell where we are right now because we're early in the stages of installation," said head coach Dale Steele. "We're throwing a lot at them. I've seen us make some plays, and what I've been most impressed with is that we've made more deep ball plays in the first seven practices than we have in the past. That's something that we wanted to be more effective with, and that's something that I've been pleased with."
The Campbell offensive line, in a similar position after losing four starters to graduation last season, will also have a youthful look.
"I think they've been good so far," said Steele. "We have a lot of guys that are competing. We've played a couple of different combinations, and it's all about how they all fit together."
The Camels will kickoff the 2012 football season on Thursday night, Aug. 30, under the lights at Barker-Lane Stadium against Shorter.
