FARMVILLE, VA. -- Mitchell Cardenas scored in the final minute of regulation to lead Campbell to a 1-0 victory Wednesday evening at Longwood.

Ethan Hall registered his fourth shutout of the year and the Camels (5-2-1, 1-1-0 Big South)  held the Lancers (2-7-1, 2-5-1) without a shot on target all night.

The strike with only 33 seconds remaining in the second half ran Cardenas' string to six-straight Campbell goals on which he has either scored or assisted.  He has at least one point in 7 of Campbell's 8 matches this year and leads the team with 12 points on 3 goals and 6 assists.

Cardenas' third goal of the year moved him within one point of 21st place on the all-time Campbell men's soccer scoring charts.  The senior midfielder from Mexico City has 60 points on 17 goals and 26 assists, just behind John Reed, who tallied 61 points on 22 goals and 17 assists from 1981-84.

Ben Iiames nearly provided the Camels with an early lead in the 19th minute when his shot beat Longwood keeper Paul Hegedus, but hit the post.

The Camels held a 4-0 advantage in shots during the first half that saw Longwood whistled for 10 fouls.

Longwood was unable to get off a shot until the 55th minute when Mike Durr's attempt missed wide of the right post.

After Vinnie Llana's attempt was blocked in the 65th minute, the Camels held Longwood without a shot the final 25:50 of play.

In the first-ever men's soccer meeting between the Camels and the Big South's newest member, Campbell finished with a 9-2 edge in shots on the night and improved to 3-2-1 on the road this season.

Campbell concludes its four-match road stretch Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. kick-off at VMI.
