First Practice Video
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell held its first day of spring practice Wednesday to begin training for the inaugural year of women's lacrosse. The team had two sessions at Barker-Lane Stadium, where all six home matches will be held.
"We had a good start this morning," head coach Phil Schuman said. "We got out here at the crack of dawn…we were under the stars and the moon and it was a beautiful morning in Buies Creek."
The team is taking a holistic approach to training, as the first year team's numbers are low. Schuman is implementing a routine of on yoga, conditioning, lifting and non-contact stick work to build up stamina and strength heading into the Feb. 2 exhibition match against Pfeiffer.
The coaching staff and the players know they are making history at Campbell this year.
"Every time they're out here, they realize they're doing something for the first time in some shape or form and that's important to them," added Schuman. "It's who they are, it's who we are and they're proud of that."
The exhibition match is scheduled for Sat., Feb. 2 at 1:00, and the regular season opens Sat., Feb. 23 against Kennesaw State, with both matches taking place at Barker-Lane Stadium.
