Freeman moves up to 15th among national assists leaders

CLINTON, S.C. -- Trey Freeman of Campbell University has moved up to 15th among NCAA Division I players with an average of 6.44 assists per game.  The sophomore from Virginia Beach, Va., also stands 26th in assist-turnover ratio (2.86).

Heading into Saturday night's Big South Conference game at Presbyterian, Freeman leads the league in both assists and A-TO ratio.  He rates 5th in the league in free throw percentage (.833) and 10th in scoring (14.2).

Last week, Freeman scored a season-high 24 points and dealt 9 assists in Campbell's 93-81 triple overtime victory over Gardner-Webb at Gore Arena.  On Wednesday, he scored 17 of his team-leading 19 points in the second half of an 83-73 victory at Longwood.  Against the Lancers, Freeman matched his career highs with 10 assists and 4 steals, while pulling down a season-best 7 rebounds.

In two games against Big South competition, Freeman is averaging 21.5 points, 9.5 assists, 2.5 steals and shooting 85.7 percent from the foul line.

Michael Carter-Williams of Syracuse leads the country in assists per game (9.6) heading into Saturday's play.

Campbell (7-9, 2-0) carries a 4-game win streak into Saturday's 7:45 p.m. start at Presbyterian.
