Campbell goes for second-straight home win Wednesday against Coastal Carolina

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After putting up four goals in last week's matches, Campbell returns home Wednesday to host Coastal Carolina in a 7:00 p.m. kickoff at Eakes Athletic Complex.  The Camels (5-8-0, 1-5-0 Big South) look to take their second league game of the season as the Chanticleers (6-7-1, 3-3-0 Big South) attempt to improve to a winning record in the conference.


Camels seek second-straight home victory (5-8-0, 1-5-0 BSC)
At home against Charleston Southern on Oct. 9, the Camels grabbed their first Big South victory 3-2 before falling at Presbyterian on Saturday 2-1. Kellsey Costello-Mays scored in both games last week to lead Campbell offensively, putting four of her five total shots on frame. The junior's two goals both came off corner kicks; her goal against CSU was a direct shot from the corner flag, and she headed a Hilliary Gupton corner in against Presbyterian. Along with Costello-Mays, freshmen Payton Ormsby and Kine Thorsvik netted goals against the Buccaneers. Freshman Lilja Bjork also notched her team and league-leading fifth assist on Ormsby's goal. Defensively, keeper Alexis Connors has logged 33 saves with a .635 save percentage in 12 games played this season.


Scouting the Chanticleers (7-6-1, 3-3-0 BSC)
Coastal Carolina is coming off a 1-0 loss against Winthrop in Conway, S.C. The Chanticleer defense is holding opponents to .90 goals per game, while keeper Megan Spencer owns a .783 save percentage with 47 total saves. Brianna Panico leads the offense with six goals and one assist on the year, including two game-winning goals.


Series History
Campbell has the edge in the all-time series with Coastal Carolina. The Camels are 4-3-1 in the series that dates back to 2000. Last year, the Chanticleers took the Oct. 18 victory 2-0 in Conway.
