NINETY SIX, S.C. -- Four Camel golfers finished among the top six individuals and Campbell won the Big South Conference Preview Saturday at The Patriot GC.
Tahnia Ravnjak tied for fourth overall at two-over-par 74, while Kaylin Yost, Lisbeth Brooks and Ali Prazak tied for sixth at plus-three 75 as Campbell won the 18-hole event by 10 strokes. Freshman Louise Latorre shot 4-over 76, while Brooke Bellomy shot 81.
Campbell shot 11-over 299 on the par-72, 6083-yard Patriot layout that will host the league championship next April. High Point and Gardner-Webb tied for second at 309, one stroke ahead of Radford (310).
The victory marked the 72nd in the 23-year women's coaching career of Campbell's John Crooks, who sits second on the NCAA all-time active coaching wins list behind Dan Brooks of Duke. Combined with the men's program, Crooks now has 117 career tournament wins in 24 seasons.
Pilar Morgan of Gardner-Webb shot a one-under-par 71 to win individual honors, while Margaret Suchan of High Point was second at even-par 72.
