RALEIGH, N.C. -- Mikko Lehtovuori finished sixth overall and Campbell placed eighth in the team standings following Tuesday's final round of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate.
A sophomore from Lahti, Finland, Lehtovuori notched his second-straight top-10 individual finish by shooting 3-under-par 213 (74-66-73) in the 54-hole event. After tying for second Saturday at the Big South Preview, Lehtovuori produced his lowest collegiate round Monday afternoon (6-under-par 66) as well as the best 54-hole effort of his CU career.
Campbell finished eighth in the team standings (302-279-301—882). East Tennessee State (276-281-286—843) won the 17-school event by 11 strokes over runner-up UNC Greensboro. Host NC State was third (865), followed by East Carolina (871), UNC Wilmington (872), Jacksonville State (873), Temple (876) and Campbell (882). Idaho and Rutgers tied for ninth (887).
Carter Jenkins of UNC Greensboro claimed individual honors at 13-under 203 (65-63-73), two strokes ahead of runner-up Gudmundur Kristjansson from ETSU (68-66-71—205).
Lehtovuori made 7 birdies in the second round and 13 for the tournament. He had two birdies in Tuesday's final-round 73. He played the par-4 holes at one-under.
Freshman Craig Hornberger tied for 33rd place at 6-over 222 (76-69-77). He had an eagle on the par-five 15th hole Tuesday after shooting a collegiate low 69 Monday afternoon.
Senior Amanjyot Singh tied for 47th place (75-73-76—224), while junior Grant Houser tied for 54th (77-72-76—225) and sophomore Alvaro Veiga tied for 57th (78-72-76—226). Houser was 4-under on the par-5 holes for the event.
The Camels return to action Oct. 21-22 at the Georgetown Intercollegiate.
