BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell head swimming coach Pascal Molinard announced the signing of Michelle Case and Alexa Collins to national letters of intent during the fall early signing period.
Michelle Case, from Fort Mill, S.C. and Fort Mill High School, swims sprint freestyle and butterfly and was a finalist at this year's South Carolina High School State Championships in the 50 yard and 100 yard free. Case, ranked No. 11 in the state of South Carolina by Collegeswimming.org, swims for Fort Mill High and Rock Hill Area YMCA.
"We are excited to have signed such a strong swimmer from South Carolina," said Molinard. "We are graduating one of our top flyers and we expect for Michelle to help us in those events. She will make an impact in the sprint freestyle events as well as our sprint relays."
Alexa Collins will come to Buies Creek from Fredericksburg, Va. where she competes for for Chancellor High School and Rappahanock Y Swim Team. Collins is ranked at No. 86 in Virginia, and swims middle distance freestyle and backstroke.
"Alexa will fill another need for us," says Molinard. "We will lose three distance swimmers and she will give us a little more depth in the backstrokes."
Campbell ended the first half of the 2013-14 season with a win in the Radford Invitational. The meet was the team's final before a six week break, resuming on Jan. 11 at North Florida. The Camels are 7-2 in dual meets this season.
