Box Score

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After winning its first lacrosse game in school history, Campbell returns to Barker-Lane Stadium Tuesday to host Longwood in a 7 p.m. match. The Fighting Camels (1-0, 0-0 BSC) and the Lancers (2-0, 0-0 BSC) will play the first-ever women's lacrosse game in Big South Conference history.

The Fighting Camels: Campbell defeated Kennesaw State 21-4 Saturday, winning the first lacrosse game played in CU history.

"Obviously, we are thrilled with the result from Saturday night," said head coach Phil Schuman. "I thought we executed our game plan well and did a great job of keeping the momentum in our favor throughout the night."

Lauren Frick, a junior, scored the first goal in the CU books 81 seconds into the game. She added one more to her total in the second half, as she converted both shots on goal she took Saturday.

Junior Cloey Henchcliffe led the Camels with 8 goals on 11 shots on frame. The co-captain also caused five turnovers and picked up six ground balls, leading the team in both categories.

Freshman Loren Day added five goals for the Camels, while junior Taelar Errington tallied four and junior Lauren Frick and freshman Erica Hitch each notched two in the season debut.

The Campbell defense only allowed four goals on the day. Junior goalkeeper Brittany Kincer made seven saves on 11 Owl shots on goal to post a .636 save percentage to begin the year.

As a team, the Camels scored their 21 goals on 33 shots on goal with 10 assists, and recorded 16 ground balls on 10 caused turnovers. CU only committed five turnovers in the game.

"Longwood is a new and exciting opportunity for our team," Schuman continued. "It is a short turnaround, a conference opponent, and a team that is 2-0 and well-coached. Factoring in that we are a young team that needs to learn how to handle success, we have been presented with a healthy challenge. We will know a lot more about our team by 9 p.m. tomorrow night."

The Lancers: This season, Longwood has posted wins over Howard, 22-2, and George Mason, 12-9.

Jamie Brentlinger leads the Lancer attack with seven goals on the season, followed closely by Kacey Norwood with six. Goalkeeper Christian Acker has recorded 15 saves with 10 goals against in two games.
