Campbell's Baker set for emotional homecoming (High Point Enterprise)
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell women's basketball team completes the Big South schedule on Thursday at High Point with tip inside the Millis Center slated for 7 p.m. Senior guard Tonisha Baker, a native of High Point, N.C., plays her final regular season contest with the Lady Camels in her hometown.

Campbell enters the matchup knowing that it will open the VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Championships on Mar. 8 at 2 p.m. in the No. 4 vs. No. 5 matchup.
The team has posted a 19-9 overall and 11-6 mark in the Big South slate. A 12-6 finish to the schedule would eclipse the 2011-12 total of 11-7 the Lady Camels posted in their first season in the Big South since 1993-94.
A 20-win season for Campbell would be its first since eclipsing that feat in back-to-back seasons starting in 1999. It would be the seventh time the program has notched 20 victories, while the Lady Camels have already secured their 26th campaign with a better-than-.500 record.
Leading the Lady Camels in their last contest at Charleston Southern was junior guard Roslyn Presley (Petersburg, Va.) with her first career double-double, setting personal-bests with 20 points and 11 rebounds. With the help from Presley, the Campbell bench totaled 35 points as all eight players that played scored at least five points to help the team post a 65-55 victory.
Campbell stretched its streak of forcing at least 20 turnovers to nine-straight contests against the Lady Bucs. A total of 13 steals were forced by the team as Baker registered five to add to her career-total of 92 on the campaign. She ranks fifth on the season charts, needing five more thefts to pass Julie Skinnner (1985-85) for fourth and also move into the top 10 of the Big South steals list.
Sophomore forward Kiera Gaines (Mechanicsville, Va.) has 31 blocks and is just three away from setting the program's single-season record, surpassing Jennifer Martin's total of 33 in 2005.
The 500-victory milestone is approaching for head coach Wanda Watkins, who has tallied 497 in her 32-year career at Campbell.
The all-time series has been controlled by High Point with an 18-9 mark dating back to 1973. The Lady Camels are tough on their home court, posting a 7-6 record, but just 1-10 on the road and 1-2 at neutral sites. The Panthers took the first five meetings and won 10 of the 11 previous matchups. Campbell has taken the past two meetings in the series both at home.
High Point is 15-12 on the campaign and 9-7 in the Big South, registering league wins over UNC Asheville (58-57, 49-35), Charleston So. (71-54), Gardner-Webb (64-42), Coastal Carolina (70-54), Liberty (71-63), Longwood (83-66, 79-72) and Radford (65-57). The Panthers have fallen to Winthrop (61-78, 62-67), Campbell (76-79), Radford (55-64), Liberty (59-67), Gardner-Webb (57-65) and Presbyterian (69-71).
Cheyenne Parker has been one of the most dominant players in the Big South, compiling 18.0 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. Paker paces the NCAA with 4.48 blocks a game. Stacia Robertson has added 11.5 points per contest. The team assist leader is Tayler Tremblay with 106.
HPU has averaged 64.7 points per game, while hitting at 39.5 rate from the floor.
The next contest for the Lady Camels will be the quarterfinals of the VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Championships on Mar. 8 at 2 p.m. inside the HTC Center in Conway, S.C. The possible opponents for Campbell in the No. 4 vs. No. 5 matchup are High Point and Radford.
