BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Head Coach Greg Goral in his first season guiding the Campbell volleyball program set the squad's spring slate on Thursday, which is set to begin on Mar. 23 at the North Carolina State Spring Tournament.
"This is a spring schedule set up to challenge our team," said coach Goral. "We are going up against various levels of competition that is going to force us to handle and adapt to a number of different situations and circumstances."
Campbell is set to play South Carolina, North Carolina State, Appalachian State and UNC Wilmington to open the schedule. The fast-moving tournament contains matches with two sets to 25 points.
The slate continues on Apr. 6 with the Camels being a part of the Coastal Volleyball Club College Tournament at Tidewater Volleyball Center in Viginia Beach, Va. Fifteen teams are participating in the event including Duke, East Tennessee State, George Mason, James Madison, Maryland, Norfolk Sate, North Carolina, N.C. State, UNC Wilmington, VCU, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and William & Mary.
To end the spring, the Camels will head to UNC Wilmington on Apr. 14 to battle the Seahawks on the beach.
"Playing on the sand will be a new and fun experience for this team," said coach Goral. "Sand volleyball is a different game with the sun, wind and playing on an uneven and slow surface. Having only two people on the court really forces the players to adjust their game. The strategy and tactics are different along with the roles of each player. This will be a great experience for our players and a good way to conclude our spring season."
The Camels have been hard at work this spring as first-year coach Goral has been implementing his offensive and defensive philosophies into the program through team and individual workouts.
